The Long Run Charity Ski & Snowboard Event

18 Ski Stations and only 36 hours to do them!

The Long Run Charity Ski & Snowboard Event

SkiGuideBG.com hopes to help two Bulgarian charities raise over 30,000 Leva!

The idea for the Long Run ski challenge came about after Simon Feek (Owner of Thunder Box Media) had to delay a planned charity walk from Sofia to Varna due to a motorcycle crash a couple of months before he was due to set off this summer, with his Boxer dog, Douglas.

Fearing he would not get the chance to raise money for the two great Bulgarian causes (Cedar Foundation & Animal Rescue Sofia) until the Spring of 2012 he started thinking... and that's not always a good thing with Simon!

So, he came up with the idea of attempting to do one run in each of Bulgaria's 18 ski resorts in a 36 hour period. Then he got chatting to some friends and they said they liked the idea of doing that too. And then they suggested they video their adventure to help promote not only the two charities but also the whole of Bulgaria as a ski destination; something the State Agency for Tourism of Bulgaria is yet to do.

And the idea grew... and kept growing until someone suggested they get a group of up to 100 people to do it and go for the Guinness World Record as it had never been done before.

Sure enough, it hadn't been attempted before but Guinness answered their application in October 2011 and turned the group down. Despite this, Simon and crew are going to do it anyway with the hope of turning it in to a regular annual event.

So with the charities collecting the money and Simon and his team working with the ski resorts and sponsors, The Long Run looks set to be an epic event for everyone involved!

If you consider yourself an ADVANCED skier or snowboarder, and have a spare 36 hours to travel just under 1,000km around Bulgaria and can raise the minimum required sponsorship of 300 Leva (150 Euros), get in contact and ask for more information by emailing This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
