Shopping in Borovets
Shopping in Borovets is limited compared to Bansko but there are still bargains to be had.
All along the main drag there are small souvenir and antique stores which offer visitors everything from local handcrafts to relics of Bulgaria's communist past and even "toys" which you can buy that if found by the British police will land you with a Category 4 Fire Arms offense! You have been warned!
Stun guns and CS gas aside, there are some interesting souvenirs to be had in Borovets but always be skeptical about their origins, especially if offered (like we were) "Stalin's own hip flask"!!
There are also plenty of equipment shops for all aspects of snow sports but another word of warning, you may find that the zip falls off your brand new North Face jacket when you get it home so don't be surprised if only paid the equivalent of 10 Euros for it!
