Where to eat

As with the majority of the ski stations in this area, Panichishte has little choice when it comes to where to eat.

It is true to say that this ski station is more suited to international tourists than most of the smaller options in Bulgaria due to there being a well developed infrastructure for a few modern hotels with restaurants on the mountain itself but most people tend to head down the mountain road (good quality) to Sapereva Banya itself.

Although there is a lot more choice in the spa town regarding the actual number of restaurants the majority of menus is limited to traditional Bulgarian offerings which we found (on the whole) to be excellent as well as one or two fast food joints that also offer pizza and other "junk food".

Foodies will want to push back to Sofia for fine dinning whilst anyone looking for a little more variety should head towards the pricier Borovets ski resort for a fill up.

Eagle Rock Cafe & Restaurant

Really quality family dining at prices lower than in Borovets!

Eagle Rock Café and Bistro is located in the pretty little village of Beli Iskar which is just a short drive down the road from Borovets. It’s sits below the apartment complex of the same name which offers a really good value alternative to accommodation options in Borovets. The restaurant itself is run by Naomi from the UK who has lived in the area for several years. This is her fourth year running the Eagle Rock Restaurant.

Franko's

This is one of the liveliest places in town!

Check out English Ami upstairs, she runs the entertainment and sings like Aretha Franklin and Tomi the manager is a good kid with an excellent snowboard school.

The Happy Duck

The Happy Duck near Hotel Mura is a must for live music fans with live music every night and a DJ Party right afterwords to help you shake off any injuries picked up that day on the hill.

B J's Bar

BJ's is right opposite the gondola and used to be Revolution.

Now it's a much better watering hole run by experts! They have excellent cocktails, good happy hour prices and a variety of "different" pub games to keep you amused. Check it out!

The Blue Bar & Grill

Those looking for a more “chilled-out” night should head for 'The Blue' bar just around the corner from the main street of Borovets.

With its combination of funky decor and laid back atmosphere it caters to families and anyone else looking to just...relax!

The Green King

One great “kid-friendly” eatery can be found opposite the gondola station run by Eva and family . They serve serve a nice mix of good quality local and international cuisine at very good prices!

The Black Tiger Karaoke

The Black Tiger Karaoke Pub is a great place right on the slopes opposite the Rila Hotel.

It's been there for years which is why it is a perennial favourite of regular dinners in Borovets. Good fast food such as burger and pizzas during the day mean it is always busy at lunch time with skiers who are able to ski straight onto the sun deck at the back of the place before they catch the lift straight back up the hill.
